Social Media Study: Rockstar Energy Drinks

Rockstar Logo

Racing Global Partnership and Social Networks

Rockstar Energy is one of the two energy drink brands I did.  Rockstar Energy Drinks social networks are Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram.  I am going to talk about how Rockstar presents itself and its products (ex. Lime Freeze flavor) on its social media.

Rockstar Energy Lime Freeze
They post on Twitter and Facebook every 1 to 2 days and not many times on Google +.  They post on Instagram 2 to 4 times a day.  They tend to be more effective on facebook and Instagram because of the many post they make.  They interact with the audience by comments on social media (mostly facebook).  They post pictures and videos of sponsorships (ex. racing global partnerships) and occasional pictures of their energy drinks.  They do these post to get attention from extreme sports lovers who want to see events (ex. motorcycle racing) by branding there drink to them to get them interested in our brand.  Their twitter page has 2425 following it and are well liked on Facebook (ex. over 2 million likes on page).

Rockstar seems to have many followings on their social networks.  Their sponsorship of racing gains a lot of attention on their social networks which makes them very popular.

Red Bull compared to AMP Facebook

Let's Compare!

Lets take a look at two brands in this competition and which energy drink band has the best search engine optimization (SEO) setup. The two brands I'll be comparing Red Bull to AMP Energy.

Red Bull Homepage
Here’s a picture of the homepage of Red Bull. After doing some research on Red Bulls SEO setup I was personally surprised on how much they rely on their events to generate traffic to their site. I’ll attach what I found regarding their SEO setup in the chart below.

After looking at Red Bull I noticed that they didn’t really use many keywords or Meta tags as well as Alt text. Keywords and Meta tags are what search engines like Google may use to find the website. Some of the positives of the site they have are the visuals and the detailed information on each event they have coming up. Red Bull has also done a great job of making sure they have shareable content. With the use of their call to action buttons they can also direct traffic to their social media sites. Overall Red Bull has taken a very interesting approach to their SEO setup. They prefer to use their events and social media to draw attention rather then search engines. Red Bull clearly understands what they are doing but in my opinion it wouldn’t hurt them to setup a good SEO foundation.

Now lets take a look at AMP Energy Drinks.

Directly below this is a screen shot of AMP Energy Drinks homepage.
Taking a look at AMP’s homepage compared to Red Bull it is clear that AMP prefers to focus on their product line more. A possible reason for this could very well be that fact that their drinks may not be as well known compared to Red Bull. That being said AMP could also take advantage of this situation by setting up a strong SEO foundation for their site.

Here is a chart I did looking AMP Energy Drinks SEO setup.

Appears toward the top when searching for either brand name or slogan
After looking at this chart it was clear that AMP had almost the same SEO setup as Red Bull. They are a few differences AMP tried to draw attention to their site by using the new flavors they release. Overall they have a good opportunity here and all they really need to do is create a strong SEO setup with good use of keywords and Meta tags as well as Alt text. Once they do this when someone Google’s energy drinks or something along those lines they increase potential of a possible costumer landing on their page.
